South Plains students took home first place meat-judging awards at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last week.
Four-member teams in each division showcased their meat-judging knowledge of beef, pork and lamb carcasses and gave written evaluations on the quality of each.
In the intercollegiate contest on March 6, Texas Tech placed first in the senior college division for the sixth straight year. Tech finished with 4,185, 91 points more than second-place Colorado State University, according to a livestock show news release.
