Texas public colleges plan for hiring and pay freezes and cuts in courses, travel expenses

Texas public colleges and universities say they will need to cut courses, reduce travel expenses and enact hiring and pay freezes to meet a state request for budget reductions.

Students at some schools may see larger class sizes.


"Right now, we're doing fine," said Guy Bailey, president of Texas Tech University in Lubbock. "That doesn't mean we'll be doing fine a year from now. It depends on what happens at the state level."
