Tech on fast track to tier one status

In November, Texas Higher Education Commissioner Raymund Paredes estimated that it could take universities like Texas Tech as long as 40 years to reach tier one status.


The Tech chancellor said the university could take a major financial stride toward a tier one seat as soon as September 2011, years sooner than initially thought, even by one of the state legislators pushing for the half-billion-dollar higher education fund.
