WHAT:
Rainger Symposium in Honor of Ronald Rainger
WHEN: 9:30 a.m. Monday (Jan. 11)
WHERE: Escondido Theatre of the Student Union Building, 15
th Street and Akron Ave.
EVENT: A group of internationally renowned historians of science and technology
will be convening at Texas Tech to honor Ronald Rainger, a professor in the Department
of History. Rainger has taught at Texas Tech since 1984 and has had a major influence
on the work of historians of biology and oceanography, the history of education of
evolution and the history of the nuclear age. He has won numerous teaching awards,
including the President’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
He served as program director for the Science and Technology Studies Program at the
National Science Foundation in Virginia from 2004-2006.
