Of all the water coming out of the Ogallala Aquifer, farmers are sucking it up faster
than anyone else, but a recent Texas Tech University study showed the Panhandle would
lose up to 12,000 jobs if farmers stopped watering the 1.4 million acres they irrigate
and farmed only with water from the sky.
