Congress Blasts Off With Space-Themed Keynote and Other Events

A one-man team from Texas Tech University took the top honors in the Student Design Competition finals on Nov. 15 during ASME’s Congress.

Addressing the engineers in the audience as “my kind of people,” veteran Apollo and Space Shuttle astronaut T.K Mattingly kicked off his account of the troubled Apollo 13 moon mission. His speech was one of the highlights of a special three-part space-themed Congress keynote event here on Nov. 15.
