Tech lifeguard among hero honorees at Champions Breakfast

A Texas Tech freshman hit his head on a diving board this summer and fell unconscious to the bottom of the pool, convulsing under 12 feet of water.
Sarah Martin, a lifeguard on duty at the university's leisure pool that June evening, saw the student hit his head as he tried a back flip, and she was in the water within seconds.
The Texas Tech senior, who has been a lifeguard for six years, said saving the student's life was a team effort - "Everybody has to do their part."
