Hatch to succeed Judge Medina

A Lubbock insurance and civil litigator will take charge of Lubbock County's 237th District Court in October.

Brian Shannon, the Texas Tech School of Law Charles B. Thornton professor, followed Hatch as president of the local bar.

Hatch is a good fit for a civil district court, Shannon said.

"Just a terrific guy, certainly a very good lawyer and well respected by the practicitioners and other judges who he's appeared before," Shannon said. "I think he'll be a very worthy successor to Judge Medina. Since it's a civil bench, he certainly has the credentials to hit the ground running."
