From memories to memorials: Center for the Study of War and Society marks 25 years at UT

American wars always produce generals, admirals and field-grade officers who write memoirs. A few even become popular enough to reach the White House.

But the real story of war is written in the foxholes, on the decks of naval vessels, on amphibious landings, or in a thousand other battlefield settings where the dogface soldier lives and dies.
