More than 200 Texas Tech scholars met their corporate benefactor last month during an annual reception for the recipients of the AT&T Scholarships.
This year, 112 undergraduates received scholarships and 124 graduate students received fellowships funded by AT&T. Since 2002, more than $3.5 million in AT&T scholarships and fellowships have been awarded.
“AT&T is a wonderful partner,” said Chancellor Kent Hance. “They contribute to the lives of our students in so many ways. In particular these scholarships have helped hundreds of young men and women continue their education.”
Cameron Monroe, AT&T’s regional director for external affairs represented the company at the reception. She was presented with a book containing letters of appreciation from this year’s recipients.
“Education is the primary funding area for the AT&T Foundation,” Monroe said. “We are proud of the 236 recipients who received support this year and wish them all the best for their future success.”
Pre-med major Cheryl Sturgess from Perryton spoke for her fellow recipients.
“On behalf of all the students who benefitted from this scholarship, we thank you, AT&T, for believing in us and investing in us.”
