Texas Tech Meat Judging Team Continues Winning Streak
Texas Tech University’s meat judging team walked away with first place honors March
8 at the Houston Livestock Show’s Meat Judging Contest for the fifth year in a row.
The contest is the third win of 2009 for the 15-member team and the eighth consecutive
win for Texas Tech’s meat judging program.

Fresh off a strong March 5 performance at the first of the collegiate spring season’s
stock horse shows in Abilene in which the Red Raiders’ Black and Red Teams finished
first and second, respectively, the intra-squad teams switched places March 16 winning
the Star of Texas Fair competition in Austin for the second year in a row.

Ten riders from Texas Tech University’s Equestrian Team, the most in school history,
are preparing to compete April 5 at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA)
Hunt Seat Zone 7 Championship in Cheyenne, Wyo. where they will vie for a shot at
the national championship in their respective disciplines.

Texas Tech University’s Wool Judging Red Team ended its season with a third-place
finish at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Eight teams competed in the high-profile
annual contest, including squads from Texas A&M, Kansas State and New Mexico State.
