Texas Tech’s CASNR Names Agricultural Scholars

Students awarded scholarships based on academic excellence, leadership, character and citizenship.

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources recognizes its 2009-2010 Dean's Scholars.

"These scholarships were established by the college to reward academic excellence and to support studious young men and women who choose to major in agricultural and natural sciences," said Dean John M. Burns.

Dean's Scholars Awards are based on academic excellence as well as leadership, character and citizenship. The Gold Award is a $14,400 four-year scholarship and the Silver Award is a $9,600 four-year scholarship. To keep the scholarship, recipients must maintain a 3.5 grade-point-average for Gold Awards and a 3.3 grade-point-average for Silver Awards. The scholarships are funded by various donations to the college.

The Gold Award winners are:

  • Kelsey Fletcher, a junior agricultural communications major from Universal City
  • Jenna Jones, a senior agricultural communications major from Slaton
  • Ryder Smith, a sophomore agricultural communications major from Amarillo
  • Trevor White a sophomore agribusiness major from Tahoka
  • Tanner Young, a sophomore animal science major from Silverton

The Silver Award winners are:

  • Terrell Bibb, a junior animal science major from Big Spring
  • Teryn Bibb, a freshman animal science major from Big Spring
  • Matthew Bruton, a sophomore animal science major from Throckmorton
  • Joe Bufford, a junior food science major from Amarillo
  • Justin Cave, a junior agronomy major from Ackerly
  • Kayce Clark, a senior agricultural communications major from Springtown
  • Clayton Cobb, a senior animal science major from Estancia, N.M.
  • Jasper DeVos, a senior agribusiness major from Plainview
  • Kristen Dunn, a sophomore food science major from Pampa
  • Shane Garrett, a junior animal science major from Lillian
  • Meghan Graham, a senior agricultural communications major from Floydada
  • Mackenzie Gregory, a senior agricultural communications major from Lamesa
  • Cade Halfmann, a junior animal science major from Garden City
  • Jett Mason, a junior interdisciplinary agriculture major from Brownfield
