Thornberry running for top military committee post

If U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry becomes top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, he'll be in one of the most powerful positions in the House where the military is concerned.

"The Republican congressmen will ask the different members to outline how they see their role on Armed Services and how they can use that position to advance the Republican agenda," said Craig Goodman, assistant professor of political science at Texas Tech University.
