The Texas Tech Equestrian Team won Reserve High Point Team awards twice during a two-show outing at Louisiana State University.

This puts Texas Tech in second place in the Hunt Seat Regional Standings and puts it on track to attend the Zone Championship this spring.

Team member Julia Lindholm claimed first place Sunday in the Open Equitation on the Flat class. Also on Sunday, Chelsea Hosmer received first place in Novice Equitation over Fences while Calan Cervenka won the Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation.

All competing members received ribbons both Saturday and Sunday for their performances, and Lindsey Mortimer, Hosmer, and Lauren Cook won second-place ribbons.

Several riders are nearing individual qualification to the 2009 Regional Championship.

The Equestrian Team currently holds the title of Reserve High Point Hunt Seat Team for Zone 7, Region 2. The team hopes to regain its lead in the region, which will qualify them for the IHSA Zone Championship in the spring.

The Equestrian Team’s next show is a Western show on Nov. 22 – 23. The event is hosted by West Texas A&M University in Canyon. The team will then take a break before resuming practices in January.
