A new era dawned on the political landscape as Texas Tech University unveiled two candidates for the prestigious Heisman Memorial Trophy, college football's grandest prize. You Choose 2008 is designed as an information platform for the nation's voters to follow each candidate during this campaign season.

The campaign officially kicked off Sept. 29 with the launch of www.passorcatch2008.com, which lays out the views and background of each candidate. The website also contains campaign spots by each candidate as well as biographical and statistical information.

“We have been presented with a unique opportunity at Texas Tech,” Associate AD/Media Relations Chris Cook said. “Whereas most programs are promoting one individual, we have two worthy candidates for consideration. Choosing one over the other to promote is not an option. Therefore, we are leaving that decision up to the voters. We will present the information and platforms as they unfold.”

As the campaign progresses toward election day, on-line commercials featuring each candidate will become available. Additionally, campaign headquarters will unveil other features throughout the season to keep the candidates in the forefront of the college football landscape.

Crabtree, winner of last year's Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top collegiate receiver, is once again among the nation's top receivers, averaging 114.3 yards per game. The sophomore electrified the country as a freshman in 2007 with NCAA freshman records in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and receptions. He solidified his place in college football history as one of only eight players nationally to earn unanimous consensus All-America status.

As Texas Tech's senior passer, Harrell leads what has undoubtedly become the nation's most prolific offense this decade. He ranks among the top ten quarterbacks by yardage in NCAA history and is one of six all-time to pass for 5,000 yards in a season. Harrell is a member of an elite group of players that have passed for more than 12,000 yards in a career and thrown more than 100 touchdowns.
