Guy Bailey will be introduced as the 15th president of Texas Tech University at a news conference and reception Monday, August 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion. After an extensive nationwide search, Bailey was named president July 24. He began his duties Friday, Aug. 1. Before coming to Texas Tech, Bailey served as chancellor of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. While there, he doubled the external funding for research and increased the school’s enrollment by more than 40 percent.
“I am excited to be the next president at Texas Tech University and look forward to this wonderful opportunity,” said Bailey. “Texas Tech is already an excellent university. I will work to improve upon the already strong educational and research programs that are in place.”
