Three finalists named in search for Oregon university president

PORTLAND, Ore.—Oregon officials say three finalists have been chosen for president of Portland State University, and a decision is expected in May.

The school is seeking a successor to Dan Bernstine, president for 10 years until leaving in 2007 to be president and CEO at the Law School Admission Council.

The names sent to higher education Chancellor George Pernsteiner are: Kathie Olsen, deputy director and chief operating officer of the National Science Foundation; Wim Wiewel, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Baltimore; and Jon Whitmore, president of Texas Tech University.
