MSU gallery paints the town blue, and orange, with exhibits united by color

Blue skies. Nothin’ but blue skies … and orange popsicles.


If art is one of the universal languages, then certainly color is its inspiration. Two colors in particular have inspired artists who have contributed work to “Out of the Blue” and “Monochrome: The Study of Orange” at the University Art Gallery.


In fact, in the “Out of the Blue” exhibit, which spotlights the art of Carol Flueckiger, Robin Germany and Sang-Mi Yoo, the works are not just about color but about metaphor, too.


“It is pretty much all blue work, but it’s all metaphor, too,” said Flueckiger from Lubbock, Texas, where she, Germany and Sang-Mi Yoo are assistant professors of art at Texas Tech University.
