Texas Tech University’s Division of Personal Financial Planning was honored by the
Financial Planning Division of Dallas/Fort Worth (FPA DFW) for its dedication to financial
literacy.
The FPA DFW awarded Texas Tech the 2007 Chairman’s Award at its fifth annual Honors
Award presentation and dinner held during National Financial Planning Week.
"This award is very special coming from the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter, which is one
of our strongest markets outside the West Texas area," said Bill Gustafson, director
of the Center for Financial Responsibility, who noted that seven Texas Tech financial
planning graduates were at the event. "We certainly have a tremendous relationship
with the Dallas/Fort Worth area."
Gustafson cited the chapter’s help in establishing and supporting the division’s financial
planning internship program, which he said has become one of the strongest in the
nation.
FPA DFW has been recognized for three consecutive years by the national association
for its accomplishments and efforts in chapter operations, chapter leadership, community
outreach, member outreach, membership development and special achievements. The FPA
exists to connect the financial planning community and consumers.
