Texas Tech University System chancellor names new vice chancellor
Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance announced today the hiring of
Dr. Kelly Overley as the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement.
Overley previously served as Senior Director of Development for the Paul L. Foster
School of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso.
"My goal is to raise more money than ever for scholarships, faculty recruitment and
infrastructure. To accomplish that, we need someone with talent and enthusiasm to
take on the leadership of Institutional Advancement. There is no doubt Dr. Overley
is that person and we are excited to have her join our team," Chancellor Hance said.
As the director of the Infinity Capital Campaign in El Paso, Overley has secured more
than $80 million in under two years from El Paso donors. She was instrumental in recently
obtaining the largest-ever gift to the Texas Tech University System, a $50 million
pledge from Paul L. Foster, President and CEO of Western Refining, Inc.
"I am so proud of this opportunity and very grateful to Chancellor Hance and the Board
of Regents for entrusting me with the position. I attended Texas Tech with my sisters
and I am happy to be coming home," Overley said. "We have a lot of work ahead of us
and I am ready to get started."
Overley earned her doctorate in 2006 from the University of Texas at El Paso. She
holds a master’s degree in educational administration from UTEP and a bachelor of
arts in public relations from Texas Tech University.
She is a member of the Junior League of El Paso where she served on the Board and
Council. She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Texas and an advisory board member for
the Regional Economic Development Corporation in El Paso. In 2007, she received the
Top Producer Award from the Texas Tech University System Office of Institutional Advancement.
Overley worked as a major gifts officer with the University of Texas at El Paso and
was the Director of Development for Saint Clement’s Episcopal Parish School in El
Paso prior to joining Texas Tech in 2003.
