Brenda Kihl, Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiative for Collin College,
has been chosen to head up the Higher Education Center scheduled for completion in
2010 in McKinney.
Kihl will be organizing and working with the various institutions to establish the
degree programs for the Higher Education Center. Present partners include the University
of Texas at Dallas, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Southern Methodist University,
Texas A&M University-College Station, Texas Woman’s University, Texas Tech University,
Baylor University and the University of North Texas. It’s possible these schools will
take part in the Higher Education Center. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fields
such as education, business, engineering, liberal arts and nursing will be available,
according to Dr. Cary Israel, president of Collin College. A law school will also
be a large part of the Higher Education Center along with a relationship with the
medical center adjacent to the site.
