Zayed University Professor Accepts Position as Director of Texas Tech’s School of Art

The new director of Texas Tech's School of Art will travel from the United Arab Emirates to begin this fall.

The chairman for the Department of Art & Design at Zayed University in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has accepted the position of director of Texas Tech University’s School of Art.

Todd DeVriese, who also has served as Zayed University’s College of Arts and Sciences interim dean, accepted the position Wednesday (March 27). He will begin working at Texas Tech in the fall.

"I’m looking forward to mid-August when we will have the chance to welcome Todd Devriesse to Texas Tech," said Jonathan Marks, interim dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. "I’m very excited that he has decided to join us. Todd is a wonderful fit for the School of Art."

DeVriese earned a bachelor of fine arts and master’s degree in painting and printmaking from Illinois State University. Also, he holds a master of fine arts degree in printmaking from Ohio State University.

DeVriese’s wife, Leila, is an assistant professor of social behavioral sciences at Zayed University.
