LUBBOCK –Alexia Green, Ph.D., dean of the School of Nursing at Texas Tech University
Health Sciences Center, has been appointed to serve on the Texas Health Care Policy
Council.
The council was established to advise the governor, lieutenant governor and speaker
of the House on flaws, gaps, inefficiencies or problems in the Texas health care system.
It comprises designees from various state agencies and systems of higher education.
“As the only nurse on the council, I plan to advocate for strategies that focus on
health promotion, health maintenance and disease prevention,” Green said.
She recently was named vice chair of the Texas Health Work Force Planning Partnership
Subcommittee, which is charged with assuring Texas is adequately prepared to meet
the health care delivery needs of the future via a quality work force. Green also
serves on the Texas Nursing Work Force Center Advisory Council, which monitors and
advises the legislature on the nursing work force.
“I believe that I can bring perspectives on both work force and health care issues
to benefit health policy,” Green said.
