LUBBOCK - Dr. Eduardo J. Sanchez, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, will address issues involving child obesity at a colloquium and symposium hosted by Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Sanchez is a nationally recognized authority in public health, and specifically children’s health.
Dr. M. Roy Wilson, president of the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, will open the event, which is titled “Community Solutions for Challenges of Childhood Obesity.”
Also speaking at the event are Dr. Patti J. Patterson, vice president of the Office of Rural and Community Health at TTUHSC; Debra Reed, a professor in the Department of Nutrition at Texas Tech, and Jane Tustin, coordinator of Health Services at Lubbock Independent School District.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
