GROUNDBREAKING SET FOR WELLNESS CENTER

LUBBOCK – Ground was broken Thursday for Texas Tech University's new Student Wellness Center.

The Student Wellness Center will be a 43,804-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility near the intersection of Flint Avenue and Main Street, west of the Carpenter/Wells Residence Hall.

The project consolidates services of the Student Health Center and the Student Counseling Center to provide a one-stop service point for student wellness.

The services to be provided at the facility include a clinic, a counseling center, a radiology lab and a pharmacy. The building also will have meeting rooms and other support and office space.

The project is headed by architects F&S Partners, engineers G|S Consulting Engineers, LLC and contractor Lee Lewis Construction.

The Wellness Center is scheduled to be completed in November of 2006.
