LUBBOCK – Dr. Mike Parkinson, associate dean of graduate studies for the Texas Tech
University College of Mass Communications, has been named to the office of vice-head
elect for the Public Relations Division of the Association of Educators of Journalism
and Mass Communications.
As vice-head Dr. Parkinson will lead the PR division of AEJMC in 2008. Both positions
include attendance at the annual conference and at the regional meetings.
Dr. Parkinson said he hopes his continued participation in AEJMC will help recruit
graduate students who might not otherwise consider Texas Tech.
“What I love about AEJMC is that I get to work with the best of the best in the PR
education field,” Parkinson said. “I like participating because I can promote the
programs at Texas Tech to other schools around the country. I want to get the best
graduate students into this program, and AEJMC is a great recruiting tool. It is refreshing
to know that on all levels Texas Tech is staying competitive.”
The Association of Educators of Journalism and Mass Communications exists to promote
the highest possible standards for education in journalism and mass communications.
