LUBBOCK – Texas Tech University’s educational television station, KTXT-TV, the Public
Broadcasting (PBS) affiliate for the South Plains, will conduct an on-air fundraising
event August 6-14. Special programming will air on Channel 5 (Cox Cable Channel 4

the people of the South Plains.
“Public television is a unique cultural and educational resource that can never be
replaced by commercial television, either broadcast or cable,” said Tim Chambers,
KTXT-TV’s development officer.
The August fundraiser will feature several music specials including, “Andre Rieu:
The Flying Dutchman,” “Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Live in NYC,” “On
Eagles Wings,” featuring Scottish/Irish music and “Dean Martin’s Greatest Hits.”
In addition, an encore airing of “Preston Smith: The People’s Governor” will be presented
along with “Texas Legacies,” a documentary film on the outdoor drama, “Texas,” produced
by KACV, Amarillo.
Other music specials to be presented include, “Amici Forever,” “Blanco y Negro,” “Motown:
The Early Years,” “David Bowie: Reality Tour,” “Barrage: Vagabond Tales” and “Helmut
Lotti: From Russia with Love.”
