WHERE: Hall of Nations at the International Cultural Center on the Texas Tech campus
EVENT: The Texas Tech University College of Education announces the establishment
of the Jim and Jere Lynn Burkhart Professorship in Autism Education.
This is the second gift the couple has given to the college. In 2003, another gift
established the Jim and Jere Lynn Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research.
The new professorship will allow the center to expand its expertise and focus not
only on autism education and working with children, but also on issues facing adults
with autism spectrum disorders.
The professorship is one of several established under the Regents Faculty Endowment
Program. Gifts of $250,000 are matched with existing university funds to create named
professorships. The program is part of the university’s goal of recruiting and retaining
quality faculty members
