TEXAS TECH HOSTS HUMAN SCIENCES WEEK

LUBBOCK – Texas Tech University's College of Human Sciences will hold its annual Human Sciences Week, March 6-9.

Activities will begin on March 6 with a private reception honoring 2005 Alumni Award recipients. The reception will be held from 4:30-6 p.m., at Skyview's Restaurant, located in the Bank of America building on University Avenue and 19th Street.

The 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are: Kathy Gilbreath of Lubbock; LeAnne Skinner of Austin; Norma H. Webb of Midland; Spencer T. Yantis, Jr. of Pearland; Shauna Miller Archer of Dallas; the late Georgia Mae Ericson of Lubbock and Crosbyton (awarded posthumously); Claude D. Dollins of Lubbock; and Elizabeth G. Haley of Lubbock.

On Recognition Day, Monday (March 7), the college will recognize excellence among alumni, students and faculty at the annual awards luncheon from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The luncheon is open to the public. To RSVP, please send e-mail to hs.rsvp@ttu.edu.

Career Day, Tuesday (March 8), will allow students of the College of Human Sciences to explore their career options. Panel discussions of careers for students studying food and nutrition, early childhood, retailing, apparel design and manufacturing, restaurant, hotel and institutional management, interior design, human development and family studies and personal financial planning are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. in the Human Sciences Building.

Design Day will feature a presentation of student designs from 1:30-3 p.m., in the Human Sciences Building, Room 169. A reception and senior presentation will be held at the end of Design Day from 3:30-5 p.m., in the Human Sciences Building El Centro and design gallery.
