Texas Tech University

Letter from the President

Chris Cook

May 7, 2018

"Our new strategic plan, A Foundation for the Next Century, A Pathway to 2025, builds on the foundation of past successes, respecting the traditions and values that distinguish the Texas Tech experience for students and faculty. Yet, it challenges us to higher levels of productivity and accountability that will strengthen our reputation as an elite, but inclusive, university."

Dear Texas Tech Family,

We are in a remarkable period in Texas Tech University's history. The university experienced its ninth-consecutive record enrollment last fall, including our largest freshman class. An increased investment in scholarships reflected in the high quality of the class, while the diversity of our undergraduate student body allowed Texas Tech to meet the benchmark to qualify as a Hispanic Serving Institution.

Our first international campus, Texas Tech University Costa Rica, received accreditation last year and will enroll its first class in the fall. The four-year institution is a significant event in Texas Tech University's global outreach and overall educational experience for our students.

With our centennial anniversary on the horizon, we completed a new strategic plan, A Foundation for the Next Century, A Pathway to 2025, to lead us into the next 100 years. The recommendations and goals outlined in this plan focus broadly on research, recruitment and outreach and engagement.

I invite you to take a moment and discover what makes Texas Tech University a special place.

Sincerely,

Lawrence Schovanec
President
