The first day of July is an important one for Undergraduate Admissions at Texas Tech University. It's the day application for admission opens to prospective students. Every year, the office processes around 35,000 freshman and transfer applications. Jamie Hansard, executive director of Undergraduate Admissions, said about 22,000 of those students are accepted each year.
"Our responsibility is to recruit undergraduate, domestic students to come to Texas Tech," Hansard explained. "I think the most important thing for any student to know is if they want to be a Red Raider, there's a way, and we want to work with them."
Undergraduate Admissions is staffed by more than 50 full time employees and more than 150 student workers, who play an important role within the office by helping with campus visits and making more than 150,000 outgoing calls to prospective students.
