Safety experts warn against viewing eclipse – even briefly – without special purpose solar filters

Press Reporter - If you are tempted to take even a quick glimpse upward to view the solar eclipse without proper protection, do not.

That is the message safety experts and others are hoping to get across before the eclipse darkens skies across the U.S. on Monday.

"The first thing to do is make sure you have proper protection," said Tom Maccarone, an associate professor of physics in the Texas Tech University Department of Physics and Astronomy.
