Military & Veterans Programs Honoring Purple Heart Recipients in Ceremony

The recognition ceremony will honor campus and Lubbock area Purple Heart recipients.

WHAT: Purple Heart Recognition Ceremony 

WHEN: 9 a.m. Monday (Aug. 7)

WHERE: Memorial Circle, Texas Tech University

EVENT: Texas Tech University’s Military & Veterans Programs (MVP) and Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 0900 will honor nine campus and 55 local area Purple Heart recipients at their Purple Heart Recognition Ceremony on National Purple Heart Day.

Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec will provide remarks at the ceremony. Christopher Beck, adjutant of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 0900 in Lubbock, also will speak and present the 55 area recipients. Lou Ortiz, director of MVP, will present the nine recipients from Texas Tech.

Eric Crouch, managing director of Texas Tech Transportation and Parking Services will announce a campus Purple Heart initiative at the ceremony.

The Purple Heart flag will be flown on campus all day.
