Military & Veterans Programs (MVP) was created in 2010 as a department solely dedicated to helping veterans and their families succeed at Texas Tech. There are more than 2,000 students who are veterans or family members of veterans on campus and MVP works to support each one of them. The office provides assistance with benefits, offers several scholarships and hosts many campus events and activities each year.
"One of the important facets of what we do here at Texas Tech is we really build a campus structure that is supportive," said Lou Ortiz, director of MVP. "We feel like we've got a great campus culture. We've got a great opportunity for veterans to fulfill their professional goals and dreams and we want to continue to help them transition from campus to the workforce."
There are countless aspects that make Texas Tech University successful. It's the people, the academics, the history and so much more.
The Discover Texas Tech series highlights the entire university and details what makes Raiderland the special place that it is.
