Diversity Week: Celebrating Uniqueness

Texas Tech will host its fourth annual Diversity Week, a weeklong event dedicated to celebrating and understanding the importance of diversity.

Diversity Week

The fourth annual Diversity Week will kick off Monday (March 20) to celebrate the importance of diversity in the Lubbock and Texas Tech University communities. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to celebrate their roots and better understand what makes everyone unique in today’s society with a variety of events.

The week will begin with a mixer hosted by the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement at noon Monday (March 20) in the Student Union Building North Plaza. Free food, entertainment and resources from multicultural student organizations on campus will be available.

Two weeklong activities also will be held as a part of the week. “Display Your Differences” encourages student organizations to display posters in the Student Union Building showcasing what makes each group diverse. The “What Makes You Diverse Wall” encourages members of the Texas Tech community to share stories of diversity and inclusiveness.

Other events throughout the week include performances, activities, discussions, film screenings, ally trainings and resources and student organization fairs. The week is organized by Student Union & Activities, and events are hosted by various campus departments and student organizations.
