Mexican tariff could put squeeze on Texas

The Richmond Register - The Trump administration backpedaled when business and political leaders protested the 20 percent tariff on Mexican goods it suggested to pay for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Texas Tech University economist Darren Hudson, who leads the International Center for Agricultural Competitiveness, said money can be found elsewhere - even if it doesn't fulfill Trump's pledge to send the bill to Mexico.

The wall's cost, he quipped, is "almost a rounding error at the Pentagon."
