Behind the Scenes at The Carol of Lights®

(VIDEO) This year's theme for the 58th Annual Carol of Lights was "The Stars At Night: Raiders Shine Bright," but there are months of planning and preparation that go into it before that ceremonial switch is flipped.

Texas Tech University hosted its 58th Annual Carol of Lights® on Friday, December 2. The tradition signals the start of the holiday season and takes many months of preparation.

"I spend four months out of the year working with Christmas lights," Stephen Howard said. "This is probably the biggest thing that we do as a campus."

Beginning in September, Howard's team hung more than 22,000 red, orange and white lights along 18 buildings on campus, but their work didn't stop after the ceremony ended.
