When 2+1 equals a faster route to teachers in our classrooms

OAOnline.com - Five women about to dive into the teaching field are getting their feet wet through the Tech Teach Across Texas 2+1 Fast-track Program, which offers educator preparation and classroom time with mentor teachers at Ector County Independent School District.

The program is a collaboration of Texas Tech University, Odessa College and ECISD and the coordinator is Cinthia Salinas.

On Wednesday, Andrea Gomez, Kriston DeShazo, Madison Rosenberger, Jennifer Yang and Stefanie Briones were undergoing training at the administration building with representatives from Texas Tech.

Doug Hamman, professor of teacher education and department chair at Texas Tech, said the university has 15 program sites around Texas ranging from Crosbyton to Dallas and Fort Worth. Hamman said ECISD reached out to him about bringing the program to Odessa...
