Nagy: Central Europe is drifting away from democracy

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal - Each year my wife and I try to get back to Hungary to visit the family I had to leave behind in 1956. My dad fled with me to Austria, steps ahead of the secret police coming to arrest and execute him for having fought against the Communist regime then in power.

Tibor Nagy is vice provost for international affairs at Texas Tech and served as U.S. ambassador to Ethiopia from 1999 to 2002 and to Guinea from 1996 to 1999.
