Midland Reporter-Telegram - A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck early Sunday morning in the northern part of Scurry County, according to U.S. Geological Service monitors. The tremor is the first in the Permian Basin this year.
"Twos and threes, those are the magnitude of quakes where you might hear a tea cup rattling" Harold Gurrola, a professor of seismology at Texas Tech University said in a previous Reporter-Telegram article. "It seems like it could have been a truck driving by. But you get into the 4's, they'll break a few bricks off a fireplace or something."
