Pipelines provide vital energy-moving lifeline

Houston Chronicle - On the Texas Pipeline Association's website, an organization that keeps its fingers on the pulse of the pipeline industry, notes that pipelines are the energy lifelines of almost every daily activity.

Bradley Ewing, a professor in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University who specializes in energy, economics and law, led a group that concluded that in 2013, the pipeline industry contributed $33 billion in economic impact, the pipeline industry supports more than 165,000 high-paying jobs, added $18.7 billion more in gross state product, and injected $1.6 billion in state and local government revenues.
