Harold Evensky, chairman of Evensky & Katz/Foldes Financial Wealth Management in Coral Gables, Fla., says the fiduciary proposal would likely substantially change the outcome of many arbitration cases involving brokers. "The brokerage industry sees that, which is the reason they're fighting so strongly against it," says Mr. Evensky, who is also a professor of practice in personal financial planning at Texas Tech University.
