KXII - It's no secret the best way to survive a direct hit from a tornado is to be inside a storm shelter.
Gregg Engle, the plant manager, said while he always recommends the in-ground units first, the above-ground shelters have come along way in terms of safety.
"Texas Tech Wind Research Center actually did a study and found 16 above ground safe rooms right in the path of that storm and all of them performed perfectly."
