Texas Tech Celebrates Spanish Day

The Sigma Delta Pi student chapter hosts a forum to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.

WHAT:           Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, will celebrate Spanish Day with a forum themed “Widening Perspectives: Spanish in Contemporary Societies.”

WHEN:           5-6:30 p.m., Monday (Sept. 15)

WHERE:         Room 001, Education Building, Texas Tech University

WHO:             The invited panelists will include Franco Parisi, visiting international scholar in the Rawls College of Business and former presidential candidate of Chile, and Idoia Elola, Diego Pascual y Cabo and Marta Tecedor Caberero from the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures.

                        The event begins with a performance by the Lubbock High School Ballet Folklorico dance group and Mariachi band. The forum will be followed by a reception featuring dishes from across the Spanish-speaking world.

                        All student organizations, faculty and staff are invited as well as members of the Lubbock community. All schools in the Lubbock, Lubbock Cooper and Frenship school districts are also invited.
