College of Human Sciences Hosts Summer Family Event for East Lubbock Families

Summer Family Event promotes life management, health and wellness and unity.

As part of Texas Tech University’s College of Education and East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood grant, the College of Human Sciences is hosting a family oriented and community-based life management event for east Lubbock.

The Summer Family Event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 2) at Project Intercept, 1324 E. 24th St.

This year’s theme is “Rise up for life management, health and wellness and unity between community and families in east Lubbock.” Brandy Ivey, director of community relations from StarCare, will talk about family health and life-management skills. There also will be five physical activities for family fun, including youth jump-roping competitions, dance with mom and dad, a communication and guidance game, and Wayland Baptist University football team activity.

Free brisket sandwiches with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as gifts and door prizes will be available.
