Texas Tech’s International Film Series Presents “Whale Rider”

WHAT:           Texas Tech University’s International Film Series May premiere

WHEN:           6 p.m. Monday (May 5)

WHERE:         Room 281 in the College of Media and Communication Building, 15th Street and Flint Avenue

EVENT:          Texas Tech’s International Film Series (IFS), along with the Thomas Jay Institute for Hispanic and International Communication and Texas Tech’s Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center, is presenting a free screening of the Sundance Film Festival winner “Whale Rider”.

Released in 2003, “Whale Rider” earned over 25 awards and 30 nominations at various film festivals around the world, including the Toronto and Sundance Film Festivals. Star Keisha Castle-Hughes was nominated for the Academy Award in 2004.

IFS is sponsored by the Texas Tech Cross-Cultural Academic Advancement Center, Department of Journalism and Electronic Media, and the Thomas Jay Harris Institute for Hispanic and International Communication.
