WHAT: The 50th Anniversary Screening of Sergio Leone’s “A Fistful of Dollars.”
WHEN: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 25)
WHERE: LHUCA Firehouse Theater, 511 Avenue K
EVENT: The film is the first of the Dollars Trilogy and is one of Leone’s iconic films. Sir Christopher Frayling is an expert on Spaghetti Westerns and will speak before the film about “Fistful of Dollars,” historical background and the ways the film shaped global cinema. After the film, Frayling and Austin Fisher, author of “Radical Frontiers in the Spaghetti Western: Politics, Violence and Popular Italian Cinema,” will offer a panel discussion on motifs of the film.
The event is sponsored by Texas Tech University’s European Studies, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of History, the International Film Series and the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts.
The screening is free and open to the public.
