Texas Tech Hospitality Program Earns Recognition

Skyviews Restaurant is run by Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management majors at Texas Tech.

Texas Tech University’s Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management department was ranked among the top hospitality programs in the nation by Create a Career.

Create a Career specifically recognized Texas Tech for requiring its students to gain 1,200 hours of work experience and for offering a 400-hour internship.

Create a Career provides information about occupations including education, certification and license requirements, employment growth outlook, salary information and major employers.

The top 25 hospitality programs were unranked and included programs from Cornell University, Iowa State University, Michigan State University and Purdue University.

Texas Tech was one of three Texas schools to be named to the list in addition to the University of Houston and the University of North Texas.

Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management

Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management (RHIM)

The Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management (RHIM) program is part of the College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech.

The program is designed for students to gain extensive management skills and work experience in the hospitality industry.

RHIM offers an undergraduate degree, a graduate degree with professional and research specialization options, and a doctoral degree program in hospitality administration.

Labs in hotel operations, food production and computers, among others, give students hands-on training that increases their marketability in the industry.
