From the first African-American to walk in space, to the youngest head football coach in a BCS conference, to the anchor of “CBS Evening News,” Red Raiders everywhere are helping shape the world in their own unique way.
Those contributions are celebrated in a newly unveiled national marketing campaign titled, “Every day, I’m a Red Raider.”
“Everyone associated with Texas Tech University is part of the Red Raider family and filled with unwavering spirit,” said Michelle Hougland, director of marketing in the Office of Communications and Marketing. “We not only wanted a campaign that would be a source of pride for those in that family, but to also show everyone what makes Texas Tech one of a kind.”
The campaign includes an institutional spot that will air during tonight’s nationally televised (ESPN) football game between Texas Tech and SMU. The commercial features a variety of Red Raiders stating the different ways they, and all members of the Texas Tech family, impact the world. The commercial ends with the tagline, “We are many things, but wherever we go and whatever we do, every day, we are Red Raiders!”
The “Every day, I’m a Red Raider” message also will be carried out in various forms on billboards across the state and in print and digital advertisements.
The website, IAmARedRaider.com, also will accompany the campaign. It includes features highlighting alumni, students, faculty and traditions that embody the Red Raider spirit. Website visitors can submit their own Red Raider story to be incorporated in the campaign through Texas Tech’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. They also can download graphics for their own social media profiles to show the world that every day, they are a Red Raider.
