Lubbock Online-Having just returned from a two-week trip with a group representing seven U.S. universities, I can attest the truth is much different: Ethiopia, twice the size of Texas with about 100 million people, was once the poster child of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but now presents a promise of a much brighter future. And a more developed, prosperous, peaceful and stable Ethiopia will mean benefits beyond its borders — for the region, the continent and even America.

Mention Africa, especially Ethiopia, to an American audience and the images which come to mind are skeletal famine victims facing starvation due to the ravages of war or drought.
